Connecting your fleet system via the API

Send breakdowns to Fix My Truck from your own fleet, telematics or assistance system, and receive progress updates back automatically.

Updated

Large fleets, assistance companies and software partners can connect their own systems to Fix My Truck. Jobs arrive on our dispatch desk without a phone call, and your system is told how each job progresses.

What a connection does

  • Create jobs from your system, with your own job reference, and name the account (and fleet) to bill.
  • Update or cancel a job you sent.
  • Read a job’s status, and list your recent jobs.
  • Receive events at a web address you give us (a webhook) as the job moves along: for example when a supplier accepts, arrives and completes. Events are signed, so your system can check they came from us.

Our team works your API jobs exactly like phone jobs: same dispatch, same suppliers, same standards.

How we set it up

  1. Talk to us. Tell us what you want to send and receive, and which accounts the jobs should be billed to. Contact us to start.
  2. Credentials. We issue a client ID and secret for your system, and a signing secret for the events. They are given to you securely, once.
  3. Test first. Your connection starts in a dry-run mode: your calls are checked and logged, but no real jobs are created, and our events are recorded but not sent until you are ready.
  4. Go live when both sides are happy.

We can restrict the connection to the addresses your system calls from, set a rate limit, and rotate or revoke credentials at any time.

In the customer portal

The account linked to the connection has an API page in the customer portal with figures on the jobs sent through it.

Getting the technical details
